How do I hang my custom backdrop?
Our photography backdrops are easy to hang using on-hand supplies. Large alligator clips (or A-clamps) and masking tape are popular ways to hang photo backdrops. Another great option is to use push-pins at the corners and along the top edge of the backdrop. Of course, backdrop stands are another option, but significantly increase the cost of your photo booth and aren't strictly necessary.
Can I iron my backdrop?
Yes, you can iron a backdrop, especially one made from polyester or muslin fabric. To make the process go smoothly, make sure the fabric is slightly damp by pre-moistening with a spray bottle. Set your iron to to low or medium heat to avoid damaging the backdrop. Start with a small section in the corner to make sure you have the settings dialed in. Then, start ironing at the top of the backdrop and work your way down, pressing firmly on the wrinkles and re-wetting them if needed.
What's the best backdrop material for photography?
The best backdrop material for photography is polyester for several reasons. Polyester backdrops are highly resistant to wrinkles and shrinkage, two common issues with other backdrop materials such as vinyl or muslin. This enables polyester backdrops to be neatly folder or washed. In addition, polyester backdrops absorb camera flash, making it easier to take great photos. A spandex blend is another great option, as it can increase the versatility of applications for your backdrop, such as with backdrop frames or irregular mounting setups.
What is the best size for a photography backdrop?
Backdrops that are between 5 to 7 feet long are the best size for most photography uses. At this size, headshots and 3/4-length portraits are easy to shoot at the correct distance from the backdrop, and photographers working in tight spaces have plenty of flexibility. Shorter backdrops, such as 3.5 feet wide, are useful for very tight shots but are not versatile. Longer backdrops—up to 12, 20, or even 24 feet long—are typically found only in professional photography studios.
What are photo backdrops made of?
Photo backdrops come in many materials including polyester, canvas, cotton, muslin, stretch knit, velour, paper, and vinyl. They're usually supported by a metal stand that holds the backdrop in place and keeps it taut. Our custom photo backdrops are made of 100% polyster for several reasons. Polyester comes in various sizes and colors for a custom look. Most importantly, polyester photo backdrops are wrinkle-free and durable.
How much is a photo backdrop?
The price of a backdrop varies according to material, purpose and shipping. Our personalized backdrops start at $89.95 for a 60 inch by 51 inch polyester backdrop, making them an excellent choice for both photographers and consumers.
What is a backdrop in photography?
In photography, a backdrop is a printed fabric material hung in the background of the photo to give the illusion of depth, to give the photo context, or to establish the theme of the shoot. Photo backdrops also help set the mood of the image. Choosing the appropriate photo background enables the photographer to communicate additional emotional and visual information to the viewers, helping them to understand the message the photo is trying to convey.
